Davis Cup: Spain storm into semi-finals

Spain beat US 3-1 in the quarter-final of the World Group Davis Cup tie to book a semi-final place.

David Ferrer sealed the tie for Spain, who were without their top-ranked player Rafa Nadal, when he beat Mardy Fish 7-5, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 in the first of the two reverse singles rubbers. Andy Roddick was due to play Feliciano Lopez in the final dead rubber.Spain had won two opening singles matches on July 8 to seize control of the tie but the Americans gave themselves some hope of winning the best-of-five tie when the twins Bob and Mike Bryan won doubles match.
