Commonwealth Games 2018: Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Inam wins gold medal

This is Pakistan's first gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

(Dunya News) – Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Inam outclassed his Nigerian opponent Melvin Bibo in the 86kg category to win gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018 on Saturday.

29-year-old Inam, also a gold medalist of Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010, secured victory 6-0 without allowing his opponent to even earn a single point.

After winning the match, he did a lap of honour with the Pakistan flag draped around him.



Inam had earlier defeated Jayden Lawrence in the first bout before beating India’s Somveer in the quarterfinal and Alexander Moore in the semifinal to confirm his berth in the final match to clinch the gold medal.

Inam’s victory adds first gold medal for Pakistan, whereas, Pakistani athletes have secured five different medals so far in the current edition of the Commonwealth Games.



Two other wrestlers Mohammad Bilal and Tayyab Raza won the Bronze while weightlifters Talha Talib and Nooh Butt also bagged Bronze medals in their respective categories.
