Sohail Tanvir out of World Cup squad

Dunya News

Sohail Tanvir, the left-arm seamer, has been dropped from World Cup after failing to completely recover from the knee injury. The Swabi-born left-arm quickie Junaid Khan was inducted in the World Cup-bound Pakistan team after consultations with Captain, Coach and Selection Committee and the youngster has the potential to be good replacement for the injured Sohail Tanvir, Chief Selector Mohsin Hassan Khan explained Wednesday.

PCB chief selector Mohsin expressed confidence that the 21-year-old left arm pacer Junaid Khan, who had been impressive during the tours of Sri Lanka and the West Indies with Pakistan A, would prove “good prospect” for the team in the ICC Cricket World Cup, starting in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on February 19. The technical committee of the Game’s controlling body International Cricket Council (ICC) has accepted the request of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to replace Sohail Tanvir with Junaid Khan. The medical team and team management have opined that Sohail Tanvir still required time to attain 100 percent fitness before he could return to international cricket. Keeping in view the Medical team’s recommendation, PCB, in consultation with Mohsin Khan inducted Junaid Khan into the squad.
