Tina Maze added a world title to her Olympic gold medal by winning downhill at world championships.

BEAVER CREEK (AFP) - Slovenia s Tina Maze added a world title to her Olympic gold medal Friday by winning the downhill at the world championships and crushing the hopes of Lindsey Vonn.
 

Maze charged down the course in a time of one minute, 45.89sec to overtake Austria s Anna Fenninger who set the early standard by clocking 1:45.91.
 

Switzerland s Lara Gut was third in 1:46.23 while World Cup leader Vonn finished off the podium with a time of 1:46.94.
