MILAN: (AP) - Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman will undergo further surgery on his left knee, which was operated on last year.

Roma says Strootman underwent tests in Amsterdam on Wednesday and the surgeons who had previously operated on him discovered "a mass of fibrous tissue, which it is advised should be removed."

The club adds "the player is due to undergo arthroscopic surgery in Amsterdam tomorrow, during which the ligament will also be assessed."

Strootman will likely be sidelined for at least a month, possibly longer if there is further damage to the cruciate ligament.

The Netherlands international returned to action in November after undergoing surgery in March and had recently showed signs of returning to top form.
