LOME, Togo: (AP) - A member of FIFA s organizing committee for Olympic football tournaments has been arrested, the Togo Football Federation said Friday.

Togo football president Gabriel Ameyi was detained in connection with "a business transaction," federation official Toussa Komi Gabriel said, adding that the arrest had nothing to do with his running of the football body.

FIFA said it was "informed that he s currently in custody" but had no further comment on Ameyi s situation.

Gabriel said he was informed by police that a businessman from Benin made a complaint against Ameyi. He didn t give any details of any possible charges.

Ameyi has "many other positions in his professional life. In the coming days, everybody will know the charges against him," Gabriel said.

As a member of FIFA s Olympic panel, Ameyi is involved in preparing the men s and women s tournaments at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, and at Youth Summer Games. The panel last met in September in Zurich.

Gabriel said Ameyi was arrested at an airport in the Togolese capital Lome on Thursday after returning from the African Cup of Nations draw in Equatorial Guinea.

Togo did not qualify for the Cup of Nations which kicks off in January.
