Security concerns: Egyptian league games cancelled

Egyptian Football Federation has cancelled league games as police do not given security assurances.

Federation deputy Hassan Farid tells The Associated Press that the Interior Ministry has not ensured it can safeguard the games.In February, 74 people were killed after a game between Al-Masry and Al-Ahly, the countrys most popular team.Among the 73 people charged in the incident are nine senior officers. Local rights groups say security forces stood by to punish Al-Ahly fans for their high-profile involvement in protests against the former regime.Die-hard Al-Ahly fans have ransacked the federations headquarters demanding justice for those killed.
