Summary Lakshmi Chowk recorded 123.2mm rainfall as heavy monsoon showers lashed Lahore, with widespread downpours reported across several Punjab districts.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lakshmi Chowk recorded the heaviest rainfall in Lahore during the latest monsoon spell, receiving 123.2 millimetres of rain, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office said Lahore recorded an average rainfall of 59mm. Other rainfall readings included 57.8mm at Jail Road, 40mm at the airport, 23.4mm in Gulberg, 60mm at Upper Mall, 51mm in Mughalpura, 53.6mm in Tajpura and 31.2mm in Nishtar Town.
According to the report, Chak Nakhuda received 106mm of rainfall, Pani Wala Talab 122mm, Gulshan Ravi 68mm, Iqbal Town 66.4mm, Samanabad 90.4mm, Shadipura 71mm and Saggian 82.4mm.

The Punjab government said that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, drainage operations in rain-affected areas were completed in record time. It said rainwater was cleared within hours due to the establishment of WASA operations in 41 districts and the deployment of more than 1,000 machines and personnel.
According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), widespread monsoon rainfall was also recorded across the province during the past 24 hours, with Gujranwala receiving 250mm, Sialkot 139mm, Mandi Bahauddin 138mm, Narowal 117mm, Hafizabad 85mm, Chakwal 70mm and Okara 64mm.
