RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Security forces have foiled a major terrorist attempt in Wana by carrying out a timely intelligence-based operation, preventing what officials described as a potentially devastating attack on civilians in the area.

According to security sources, the operation was conducted in the Ghwakhwa area of Lower South Waziristan, where an explosives-laden vehicle prepared for a suicide attack was destroyed before it could be used. The operation helped protect Wana and nearby civilian populations from a possible large-scale act of terrorism.

Sources said the explosives stored inside the vehicle were intended for a major terrorist attack. During the operation, security personnel acted with professionalism to ensure the safety of innocent civilians and prevent any loss of life or property.

Officials further stated that security forces kept the suspected vehicle under surveillance for three consecutive days and targeted it only after it had moved away from populated areas to minimize any risk to civilians.

According to security sources, the successful operation resulted in the destruction of the explosives-filled vehicle and a motorcycle. One militant was killed, while five others were injured. The operation was described as further evidence of the security forces' continued resolve to counter militant elements and maintain peace.
