RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - The Armed Forces of Pakistan on Saturday paid glowing tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on the 27th anniversary of his martyrdom on Sunday (today), honouring his extraordinary courage, exemplary leadership and supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation during the 1999 Kargil conflict.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan collectively commemorated the national hero's enduring legacy.

The military leadership described Captain Karnal Sher Khan as a symbol of unwavering patriotism whose unmatched bravery and steadfast devotion to duty continue to inspire generations of Pakistanis.

During the Kargil conflict in 1999, Captain Karnal Sher Khan displayed exceptional gallantry and resolute leadership while defending the country's frontiers against overwhelming odds. Leading his troops from the front, he embraced martyrdom in keeping with the highest traditions of the Pakistan Army, earning the nation's highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider, for his extraordinary valour.

The ISPR said his sacrifice remains a timeless example of courage, selflessness and unwavering commitment to Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The military leadership reaffirmed that the Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan remain steadfast in upholding the ideals for which Captain Karnal Sher Khan laid down his life, pledging that his legacy of honour, sacrifice and patriotism will continue to guide future generations.
