'Merciless' police rough up lady health workers

Police baton charged and teargassed protesting Lady Health Workers in Karachi.

Lady Health Workers from across the Sindh protested outside the Karachi Press Club demanding the government make them permanent and to release their long-stuck salaries.The protesting LHWs tried to stage a sit-in at Fawara Chowk but riot police while not allowing them to do so, exhibited extreme brutality by baton charging and teargassing lady health workers. Many ladies fainted and many other got injured.During the scuffle, a pregnant woman Samina fell on the road and fainted while three others got injured.The LHWs slammed the Sindh government for using power against the protesting women and vowed to continue their protest till the fulfillment of their demands.
