Summary Commander of Turkish Land Forces General Metin Tokel held separate meetings with Pakistan’s military leadership, focusing on defence cooperation, regional security and institutional linkages.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding historical, cultural and strategic relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, while appreciating the enduring defence partnership between the armed forces of the two countries.

As part of his engagements in Pakistan, General Tokel also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff. Discussions focused on professional matters and the evolving regional maritime security environment.

The Turkish commander later called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting centred on bilateral military cooperation and issues of professional interest.

General Tokel praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability. He also expressed his commitment to enhancing defence cooperation and strengthening institutional linkages between the armed forces of the two brotherly nations.
