Pakistan, Myanmar pledge to expand cooperation in multiple sectors

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan and Myanmar have expressed their commitment to expand cooperation across diverse sectors, including religious tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, trade, economy, and science with a view to promoting shared prosperity.
The resolve was expressed during a joint press conference by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Than Swe, following delegation-level talks in Islamabad on Monday.
In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister said that our discussions remained very productive and comprehensive.
He underscored the importance of advancing engagement towards sustained, structured and results-oriented initiatives to advance cooperation in capacity building.
Ishaq Dar said that the visit of Myanmar's foreign minister to Pakistan reflects the importance that both countries attach to revitalizing and strengthening Pakistan-Myanmar relations.
He stressed the need that all contentious issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

He also emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation in academic linkages.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan and Myanmar enjoy cordial and friendly relations.
He said that Pakistan greatly values this partnership and remains keen to further enhance the cooperation across a wide range of mutually beneficial fields.
In his remarks, the Foreign Minister of Myanmar thanked the government of Pakistan for extending warm hospitality during his visit to Islamabad.
Earlier, both sides reviewed the full gamut of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international peace and security.

The two sides also agreed to remain in close contact on matters of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations has also been signed between the Foreign Offices of Pakistan and Myanmar.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Myanmar Than Swe signed the MOU.
This institutional mechanism will facilitate regular engagement and sustained dialogue on bilateral, regional, and international issues.
