LAHORE (Dunya News) - Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider on Friday said that the 27th Constitutional Amendment has fulfilled the demand of the late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for constitutional courts.
In a statement, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider said that judges do not speak for themselves -- their decisions speak for them. When judges become politicians, the country cannot function. He said that in the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the aim was to establish constitutional courts, but instead, constitutional benches were created.
He further said that most of the courts’ time is spent interpreting the Constitution. Under the 27th Amendment, the establishment of constitutional courts is now expected to help resolve the issues of litigants.
