ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to constitute a joint working group for the promotion of interfaith harmony between the two countries.

This came at a meeting between Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and a delegation of Bangladesh led by Adviser on Religious Affairs A.F.M. Khalid Hussain in Islamabad on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf proposed the exchange of the visits of Ulema and students of Madaris with Bangladesh.

He said the relationship between the two countries is based on centuries of shared traditions, Islamic heritage, social values, and literary expression.

The minister said that improvement in the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh will prove useful for the region as well.

In his remarks, Khalid Hussain said steps will be taken to promote mutual cooperation between the Ministries of Religious Affairs of both the countries.

The Bangladeshi delegation expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property due to floods in Pakistan.
