Four electrocuted while removing signboard in Lahore's Shahdara

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Four people died of electrocution in the Shahdara area of Lahore while removing a signboard outside a shop in Daulat Khan Bazaar, located on the service road.

According to reports, the victims were taking down the board of a shop. Two of them were shop employees who lived on the second floor, while the others included a labourer and a rickshaw driver.

The deceased have been identified as Awais, Nadeem, Nouman, and Almas. Rescue teams, Wapda officials, and local police reached the scene and recovered the bodies after about 45 minutes. The bodies were then shifted to a hospital.

Awais Haider and Nouman Khalid were residents of Peoples Colony in Vehari district, Almas was from Baghbanpura, and Nadeem was a resident of Khadak Nala, Sabzazar, Lahore.

Eyewitnesses stated the bodies were severely burnt due to the electric shock. Wapda officials arrived, shut off the power supply, and used sticks to remove the signboard from the corpses.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report. She also expressed condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families.
