Salim Haider says Zardari’s leadership kept PPP united, essential for political stability
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider stated that the current political system cannot function for even six months without the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at a ceremony marking the President’s birthday in the twin cities, Governor Haider welcomed participants and mentioned that similar celebrations were also held in Lahore.
Reflecting on the past, he said that the assassination of Benazir Bhutto was an extremely difficult time for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), but Asif Ali Zardari showed great courage and successfully kept the party united. “After Benazir’s martyrdom, the party could have fractured, but Zardari managed to steer it forward,” he added.
Urging party workers to strengthen their efforts, he said, “PPP’s jiyala must now rise up. We must make Bilawal Bhutto the next Prime Minister. Take the party’s message to every street and neighborhood.”
He reiterated that the PPP remains the party of the common people and that voters will stamp the arrow symbol to elect Bilawal Bhutto as Prime Minister in the next elections. “There is no one in Pakistan who can replace Zardari as President,” he claimed.
Concluding his remarks, Governor Haider asserted that the current political system is only functioning because Zardari is in the Presidency. Without him, he said, the system wouldn’t last six months.
