Provinces, GB, and AJK directed to align efforts with federal digitisation strategy
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the government of four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, to fully cooperate with the federal government for digitisation and a cashless economy.
Chairing a weekly review meeting on the cashless and digital economy in Islamabad, he said the federal government's digitisation transformation plan should be made more efficient through cooperation with provincial governments and their institutions, so that the goals can be achieved within the stipulated timeframe.
He also directed to make meaningful consultations with all stakeholders a permanent part of this plan.
The prime minister noted digitisation of the economy will help promote transparency and its basic premise is to provide convenience to the public without additional costs.
He said the government is encouraging digital payments and digital transfer of funds through policy measures.
During the meeting, the premier was briefed on the progress regarding the digitisation of the economy. It was briefed that the National Digital Commission and Pakistan Digital Authority have been established and necessary rules have been made in this regard.
It was informed that the process of appointing the chairperson and members of the Pakistan Digital Authority is in the final stages.
