First rain of the winter in different parts of the country turned the weather chilly.
After seven week’s long dry weather, first rain of the winter in different parts of the country while snowfall at hilly areas turned the weather chilly.The Met official told this agency that during last twenty-four hours rain forecasted in different parts of Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, and Kashmir while snowfall continued on the third day in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.21inch snowfall recorded at Kalam and 26 inch at Malam Jabba, Swat, while first snowfall of the season recorded in Murree and Galyat and the spell continued until late Friday night.Scattered rain with light snowfall over the hills expected in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtoonkwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. However, weather likely to remain cold and dry in rest of the country.The Met office said that during next 48 hours more rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in upper parts of the country. Foggy conditions are likely to remain over some plain areas of Punjab, KP and Sukkur division. Westerly wave still persisting over upper parts of the country and likely to persist for next 24-48 hours.During last 24 hours light rain was also forecasted in arid areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa which would be fruitful for wheat crops in these areas.Different areas in the country are under the grip of cold wave and minimum temperature was recorded minus 10 in Quetta.The Met official further informed that during next forty-eight hours major areas including federal capital would come under the grip of cold wave.
