OGRA has increased gas prices up to 13.98% for domestic and commercial consumers from Jan 1, 2012.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued the notification of increase in gas tariff for domestic commercial and industrial consumers while the prices of CNG will be increased tomorrow.The OGRA has increased gas tariff up to 13.98 percent for domestic and commercial consumers from January 01, 2012 while for industries the increase will be 16.97 percent.Earlier, the Ministry of Petroleum had submitted the proposal to increase gas prices from the start of the next year.The federal government has reduced the gas infrastructure cess to 60 percent for the region 1 (Rs 141/MMBTU) and Region 2 (Rs 79/MMBTU). Revised cess for the region 1 is now Rs 84. 60/MMBTU and for region 2 it is Rs 47.4/MMBTU.Federal government has increased the gas prices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Potohar region (Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Gujar Khan) @ 1070 BTU to Rs 74.30 per kg while in Sindh and Punjab the price increased to Rs 69.62 per kg.According to the summary, gas prices for residential and commercial users will increase by 13.98 percent while for industries the increase will be 16.97 percent.For WAPDA and KESC, the increase will be 13.58 percent, for private power plants it will be 34.57 percent. The increase for the cement industry is 13.98 percent while for new fertilizer plants 1.81 percent has been proposed.No cess has been imposed by FG on domestic, commercial, cement and new fertilizer plants.
