ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An Islamabad court granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aliya Hamza in a case registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca).

Judge Afzal Majoka heard the case. The court observed that Section 9 of the Act can be imposed when the accused belonged to a banned outfit.

The judge also sought a forensic report of the video. The prosecutor, while presenting the case, confirmed that a transcript was available, but clarified that the matter concerned pre-arrest bail.

The court further inquired if any evidence existed proving that Aliya Hamza interfered in the affairs of state institutions, after which the prosecution played a relevant video in the courtroom.

Judge Majoka pointed out that Section 24A of the Peca, which was being applied in the case, does not specify punishments. The court reprimanded the prosecutor for citing irrelevant sections, stressing that the case pertains to Sections 9 and 10 of the Act, not Section 24A.

The prosecutor acknowledged that Aliya Hamza had not denied the authenticity of the video, but reiterated that the prosecution's case focused on Sections 9 and 10.
