ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A westerly wave on Friday brought rain in most parts of the country hearlding weather change and relieving people of humidity.

Rain in various areas of Lahore turned weather pleasant after a long spell of dry and humid weather. 

Light to moderate rain was reported from Garden Town, Kalma Chowk, Canal Road, Allama Iqbal Road, Wahdat Road and Mustafa Town. The areas in and around Walled City received downpour at around midday.

Meanwhile, twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad received heavy rain starting from midnight to early hours of Friday. 

In Rawalpindi, the areas of Kutchery Chowk, Chaklala Scheme-II, Bahria Town, Jhelum Road, Lalazar and Soan River received heavy rain-showers recorded above 50 millimetres. Whereas areas of Islamabad including E-8, Quaid-i-Azam University, Banigala, Zero Point, I-8 and I-19 received rain.

Many low-lying areas in Rawalpindi were inundated due to rain showers, causing disruption in electricity supply and affecting transport on the roads in the garrison city.

According to Met Office, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of the country. However, rain-winds/thunderstorms prevailed at isolated places in Pothohar Region, Islamabad, Northeast Punjab and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The weather office reported that highest 142 mm rainfall was recorded in Rawalpindi's Kutchery area.

The Met Office forecast hot and humid weather in the most parts of the country on Saturday. However, gusty winds/thundershower (with rain) is expected in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast/Central Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
