LPG prices increased by Rs 5 per kg

LPG marketing companies on Wednesday increased price of LPG by Rs 5 per kg.

The move would increase by Rs 60 the price of gas per domestic cylinder and Rs 240 per commercial cylinder with immediate effect.According to Chairman LPG Distributors Association Muhammad Irfan Khokhar, the prices have been raised arbitrarily as the Ministry of Petroleum, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) or producers had not issued any notification in this regard.Irfan Khokhar said that this increase is by LPG gas mafia and LPG marketing companies, which is unjustified. He said that LPG companies have finalised a strategy to further increase the prices during next few days and in this regard artificial shortage is being created in the market.He said that after this new increase prices in Gilgit Baltistan, FATA, Balakot and Muzaffarabad have been raised from Rs 145 to Rs 150 per domestic cylinder – taking total cylinder price from Rs 1690 to Rs 1750.Prices in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mansehra, Nathyagali, Swat and Muree have been raised from Rs 135 to Rs 140 per kilogram -- from Rs 1570 to Rs 1630 per domestic cylinder.Irfan Khokhar further said that in Lahore ,Gujranwala, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Jhang and Sarghodha, prices have been increased from Rs 115 to Rs120 per kg while prices of domestic cylinder has been raised from Rs 1330 to Rs 1390.Prices in Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan ,Kohat, Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan and Mandi Bahuddin have been raised from Rs 125 to Rs 130 per kg while prices of domestic cylinder has been increased from Rs 1450 to Rs 1510.In Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jehlum, Mirpur, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur, prices have been raised from Rs 120 to Rs 125 and price of domestic cylinder has been raised from Rs 1390 to Rs 1450.Chairman LPG Distributors Association Muhammad Irfan Khokhar said that in Karachi prices of LPG have been increased from Rs 105 to Rs110 per kg and price of domestic cylinder has been increased from Rs 1210 to Rs 1270.He demanded the Prime Minister and the OGRA take notice of this increase and take action against the anti-market forces that had forced the poor segment of the society to purchase the commodity at exorbitant rates.
