Interior Minister urges combined efforts against drugs, smuggling
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday that joint efforts were needed to make country drug-free and health.
In his message on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the minister said that nation will have to put up a combined fight against the dangers posed by the drug abuse,
adding that country has been facing the problems of domestic violence, crimes, deteriorating health and infertility due to this menace of drugs for a long time.
Accepting the severity of the problem, the minister said that the government is taking steps to prevent drug abuse smuggling under National Anti Narcotics Policy which includes reduction in demand and supply of drugs and international coordination.
Naqvi also paid tribute to the martyrs of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) who sacrificed their lives in battle against drugs while stressing action against hazards caused by drugs.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also vowed to stamp out drug abuse from Punjab in her message on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
She underscored the need of awareness to root out the menace while expressing sympathy with families of drug abusers in her message.
She pledged to make "Drug Free Punjab".
