ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is being marked today. The day aims to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse.
The theme of the day this year is 'The evidence is clear: invest in prevention'.
President Asif Ali Zardari
President Asif Ali Zardari has called for curbing the flow of drugs into society, especially within educational institutions, by targeting drug suppliers and peddlers.
In his message on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, he said drug production and illicit trafficking not only immensely harm our youth and their families, but are also a potential source of financing for criminal and terrorist elements.
The President said Law Enforcing Agencies should adopt proactive measures and take strict actions against persons involved in drug trafficking.
He urged to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse at the individual, family, and community levels, prioritizing prevention and treatment.
He said he is sure that through our collective efforts, we can achieve a drug-free Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the government has placed utmost priority on addressing the issue of drug abuse and is taking effective measures to combat illicit trafficking.
In his message on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, he expressed firm determination to strengthen action and cooperation to collectively achieve the goal of a drug free society.
