CJP observed during the NRO review petition hearing that Parliament did not endorse NRO.
Seventeen member bench of Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the NRO review petition. Chief Justice, in his remarks, said that Masood Chishti had filed the review petition from the government and how a lawyer could file a petition who was not concerned with the case.The government counsel, Babar Awan, said that Kamal Azfar was abroad that’s why Masood Chisti filed the petition. Chief Justice said that federation should be asked that whether Kamal Azfar still facing threats. “If government cannot protest his lawyer then what we can say”, observed the court. Chief Justice said that we were here to protect the lawyers and nobody could dare to threat any lawyer.Babar Awan said that nobody had threatened Kamal Azfar but I was stopped at the Supreme Court entrance. Judges better know that why I had been stopped, Babar said. Some people, on TV channels, termed court hearing as talk show, said Babar. However, Chief Justice barred Babar Awan to call court hearing as talk show.
