Railways set to partially privatize its freight trains operations

Pakistan Railways have offered the private sector to run freight trains to private sector.

The private sector is already running a passenger train according to a deal. The briefing will be given on November 1 in this regard.Lahore railways headquarters’ official have said owing to lack of funds, the department cannot resume freight service. The private sector has been offered to invest in repairing engines and wagons. It has been revealed the private sector will be handed over 92 engines and three thousand freight wagons initially.The amount of investment will be reimbursed by money earned through fares. On Tuesday 104 trains were cancelled due to the crisis while number of engines has been reduced from 86 to 76.
