Aitzaz emphasises absence of functioning system in Pakistan
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Renowned legal expert and top PPP leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan asserted on Saturday that there should be no doubts about the deal brokered between former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the military establishment.
Interacting with a group of reporters here, Aitzaz Ahsan pointed out that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif himself aspired to become the prime minister of Pakistan, and for this, he struck a deal with the establishment, leaving everyone else powerless.
The PPP leader emphasised the absence of a functioning system in the country, arguing that the constitution, which ties sovereignty to Allah, is drawn up by elected representatives, and without elected representatives, the system would cease to exist.
In response to a question, Aitzaz mentioned that he has had differences with his party, where he might agree with the party's stance on some occasions, and on others, he might take a different view. "Sometimes the party's predictions come true, and sometimes the opposite happens."
When asked about predictions for the next general elections, Aitzaz stated that no accurate prediction could be made about them.
Earlier, Aitzaz Ahsan attended the Qul ceremony for the late wife of PPP leader Naveed Chaudhry.
