Playwright Mansha Yaad died of cardic arrest on Saturday. He was 72.
Yaad was taken to Islamic International Hospital after he complained of chest pain, but he died of heart attack. He is survived by four children and a widow.Born in 1937, Yaad was associated with the television and radio industry for decades and proved his worth as a playwright and storywriter.Popular drama serial Rahain, had been based on his award winning Punjabi novel Tanwan Tanwan Tara.His other writings for TV included Junoon, Bandhan, Pooray Chand ki Raat and Awaz, almost all of them famous and unforgettable. Yaad will be remembered most for his short stories. Band Muthi main Jugnoo (fire-flies in a closed fist) and Khala andar Khala (Void inside void) were two of his most famous short stories.Prime Minister Gillani and other government figures and literature-lovers have expressed grief over Yaad’s death.
