NAB secures transit remand of Parvez Elahi

Former Punjab CM was detained for 30-days by Lahore DC under MPO

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The transit remand of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was approved as he was arrested again following his release from the Adiala Jail.

After completing his detention, Parvez Elahi was released from the Adiala Jail, only to be immediately detained by NAB Rawalpindi. He was then presented in the court of the magistrate Khalid Hayat in Judicial Complex Rawalpindi, where NAB requested his remand.

After considering the arguments, the duty magistrate Khalid Hayat reserved the judgment and later approved the transit remand of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. Subsequently, the NAB team transported him back to Lahore.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was transferred from Camp Jail Lahore to Adiala Jail on July 19, with a detention period of 30 days. Deputy Commissioner Lahore had ordered him to detain under MPO. The PTI president is currently under investigation by NAB Lahore for his alleged financial irregularities and receiving kickbacks in contracts.

The investigation also involves probing his assets to determine if they exceed his income, as well as other cases.
