Iraq increases quota of Pakistan’s Arbaeen pilgrims

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Iraqi government decided on Wednesday to increase the quota of Pakistani pilgrims during Arbaeen from 50,000 to 100,000 at the request of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Sanaullah called on his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and thanked him for his warm hospitality.

Shammari also approved the issuance of individual visas to Pakistani pilgrims from the Iraq embassy.

Al-Shammari also assured Sanaullah of reducing the visa fee for Pakistani pilgrims.

Sanaullah thanked his Iraqi counterpart for providing facilities to Pakistani pilgrims.

Talking to his Iraqi counterpart, Sanaullah said: "Pakistan respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq. Pakistan fully supports the reconstruction efforts of Iraq in the country".

Sanaullah said, "Iraq can benefit from the counter-terrorism expertise of Pakistan's institutions."

Al-Shammari thanked Sanaullah for visiting Iraq. He expressed his determination to provide all possible facilities to Pakistani pilgrims.

He also welcomed Pakistan's offer to train Iraqi officers and cadets in the field of forensics.

On the other hand, Sanaullah also called on Iraqi President Dr Abdul Latif Jamal.

Taking to Twitter, Sanaullah said: "Happy to meet the Iraqi president earlier today. It was agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries by promoting cooperation in various fields, especially security, military training, and the economy".
