Flooding in Nullah Dek inundates several villages in Pasrur

According to sources, currently 32,000 cusecs of water passing through Nullah Dek.

PASRUR (Dunya News) - Floodwater inundated several villages in Pasrur tehsil of Sialkot district as India released water in Nullah Dek on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.

The release of flood water from the neighbouring country has caused high level flood in Nullah Dek and several villages have been submerged and standing crops on hundreds of acres were destroyed.

The discharge of floodwater from India could also add to the increasing water levels in River Chenab and River Ravi.

According to sources, currently 32,000 cusecs of water passing through Nullah Dek which has the capacity of 30,000 to 35,000 cusecs. The floodwater has also entered houses in the village of Kheyre while the local administration has issued flood alert.


According to locals, about three to four feet water was passing through the flood-hit villages. Roads leading to 10 villages including Ripowali, Saidawali, Khere Tamboh have been blocked and people are facing severe problems.

Rescue teams are busy evacuating the farmers trapped in water. Flood relief camps have been established in the tehsil by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
