FIA arrests PTI leader while fleeing to Afghanistan
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdul Basit Chaudhry as he attempted to flee to Afghanistan at Torkham border.
The FIA said that Basit was escaping through Pak-Afghan border crossing. Basit is the son of former PTI MPA from Rawalpindi Chaudhary Amjad Mehmood.
The FIA had received information suggesting that Basit was attempting to leave the country despite his name being included in the Exit Control List (ECL). The accused had obtained travel documents for Europe, through which he was supposed to move from Afghanistan to Europe.
The FIA handed over the accused to the Rawalpindi police for further interrogation.
