Shehryar Afridi being kept in death cell, lawyer informs IHC

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Afridi has been kept in a death cell at Adiala Jail.
This revelation was made by Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat during the hearing of Afridi's bail plea in the Islamabad High Court on Monday. The lawyer told Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir about Afridi’s deteriorating health, saying one of the arms of the PTI leader was paralysed.
Advocate Marwat submitted that the court order the authorities to grant Afridi permission to meet his children and transfer him to an A-class jail.
“My client is a master’s degree holder and should be kept in prison according to law,” he requested.
The judge subsequently directed prison officials to submit Afridi’s medical report by June 2 and adjourned the hearing. The order was passed on a petition filed by Afridi’s brother seeking his bail and better medical facilities in jail.
