Reacts as key PTI leaders part their ways

LAHORE (Web Desk) – As the PTI suffered major blows on Tuesday in the form of key leaders Shireen Mazari and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan announcing parting their ways with the party, PTI chief Imran Khan reacted to the developments.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “We had all heard about forced marriages in Pakistan but for PTI a new phenomenon has emerged, forced divorces”.

He also urged the human rights organisations to notice the change writing, “Also wondering where have all the human rights organizations in the country disappeared.

Earlier, Ms Mazari, Mr Chohan and over a dozen party leaders said goodbye to the party in what seems natural to the country’s politics. However, the announcements of key party leaders made Mr Khan comment on the situation.

Ms Mazari said she condemned the violence that erupted on May 9 last after the arrest of former premier Imran Khan. She said her family was her priority.

Meanwhile, Mr Chohan stepped away with a litany of complaints, and criticised party's "politics of violence".

Earlier, during his appearance before the ATC in Islamabad, he said, "People are not leaving the party on their own, they are being forced to do so, and that too at gunpoint".

However, he maintained he was not bothered by the several key PTI leaders who have in recent days called it quits, saying that "parties never die down like that; they are weeded out like the [ruling coalition] PDM is eroding, the way their vote bank is depleting."

"I am only worried about the workers and especially the women," he added.
