Govt reverses old timeline
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) on Saturday notified new timeline for obtaining a passport.
The DGIP notified that the timeline had been reversed to the old schedule.

According to the revised schedule, normal passport can be received in ten working days, while urgent passport will be issued in four days.The time will further reduce to two days for fast track passport.
The DGIP stated that DGIP was pleased to announce that after utmost efforts/timely response of Senior Management and dedication of DGIP team, issues of delayed passport printing and late delivery of passports had been resolved.
"The backog of almost six lac passports has been cleared, now the situtaion is normalised and there is no further delay in passport printing and delivery," it added.

The DGIP had, earlier, notified that the direcorate recieved huge number of applications for obtaining passports and this number surpassed the isung capacity of the DGIP which resulted in creating a backlog. "The timeline for obtaining passport has been temporarily increased and we are trying to resolve the issue," it had added.
Earlier, normal passport was issued in 14 days, urgent in seven days, and fast track in three days.
