Maryam said whenever the judiciary expelled or threatened someone, it was an elected prime minister.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief organiser Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday continued to castigate the judiciary, saying that it never dared to stand in front of a dictator.

Addressing the PML-N lawyers' convention here, Maryam said that whenever the judiciary expelled or threatened someone, it was an elected prime minister.

Nawaz Sharif came forward to save the judiciary from the tyranny of a dictator, she added. Judge Seth Waqar sentenced a dictator like [Gen Parvez] Musharraf. His court was wound up and he was wiped from the face of the earth, she continued.

Maryam claimed that concocted cases were registered against her and [her father] Nawaz Sharif.

Pakistan remained under dictatorship for years; no elected prime minister had ever completed the term, she added.

Maryam said that she saw [Chief Justice] Umar Atta Bandial on TV who became emotional. He should have been emotional when the prime minister elected by millions of people was thrown out of office. She asserted that the PML-N was selectively disqualified for speaking the truth. The PML-N members were told to either join the Tehreek-e-Insaf or leave the party.

The PML-N leader said that she was imprisoned in Adiala Jail for five months. She was kept in death cell twice, but she never cried. She appeared in courts holding his father's hand more than 150 times; there was no court where they were not summoned, she contended.

A coward, who called himself a leader, whenever come out of his home, rode in a bullet proof vehicle, she added.

Criticizing PTI chairman Imran Khan, Maryam said he does not go out of his house because all the cases against him are true. He always talks about the supremacy of law, but himself violates the laws of the country, she maintained.

Maryam said that Justice Qazi Faiz Isa was an obstacle in the way of Imran. Now they were associate us with Justice Isa. She reminded that a reference against the judge was filed during Imran’s reign.

She said that Imran lied about a cipher. We were told that we [Imran] had committed no crime, why should we be searched. We were searched for five years, but what they found was only an Iqama, Maryam added.

She alleged that Imran and his wife stole gifts from Toshakhana, but lied to the nation for many years. They sold watches gifted from Saudi Arabia. Farah Gogi shipped money into Pakistan but they hushed up the matter. You know that you have committed a crime and so do your facilitators, she concluded.
