Thousands hit by epidemics in flood-stricken Sindh

Epidemics struck thousands of people in flood-hit areas of interior Sindh.

Hundreds of thousand flood-stricken people are facing an acute shortage of food and medicine.Though helicopters dropped food-packets in some areas but that amount was insufficient appease the need.Almost 90 percent area in Mirpurkhas has been affected by floods where 70 people have died while 400 other got injured in various flood-related incidents.The land-links of the district has been disconnected and there is no health facility for the stranded people.Looting and stealing incidents are also on the rise in urban as well as in rural areas.The water sank the relief camps in various districts of Sindh and no arrangements were made to evacuate the people.Meanwhile, the livestock is dying across Sindh, including Hyderabad, amplifying the risk of epidemics in the city.The rain water could not be drained out from different areas of Hyderabad even after four days, causing trouble for people.
