Mohsin Naqvi's elevation a 'proud moment' for Crescentarians

LAHORE – The appointment of Mohsin Raza Naqvi as caretaker chief minister of Punjab by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has elicited a mixed response but netizens, especially his school fellows, have expressed their elation over his elevation.
Mr Naqvi attended Lahore s prestigious Crescent Model Higher Secondary School and was liked by the teachers and the taught alike for his easy charm. Even in his school days, he had a knack of making friends and cultivating contacts in social and political circles. It was quite unusual and interesting for his school fellows and friends to see him rub shoulders with high-profile people and having meetings with them even during school hours. He endeared himself to his friends for being readily available for help and support.
After his appointment, social media users shared their feelings, with some of them offering their best wishes to Mr Naqvi in the new role. The school alumni page shared his pictures and a group photo from his school time in which he can be seen posing with his batchmates. “Proud moment: our alumnus Mohsin Naqvi nominated as caretaker CM Punjab,” the school’s page writes in the caption.
The comment section was showered with praises by the old Crescentarians. “Congratulations. Do well for Punjab,” one user wrote. Another user said he was proud of him (Mr Naqvi) and congratulated him.
Yet another user said he remembered this class and he was one of the students there. Another one said, “He was a good debater at that time and I had great rivalry with him. May Allah bless him.”
The media tycoon took oath as the Punjab caretaker chief minister at a ceremony held in Lahore on Sunday night. Punjab Governor Baligur Rehman administered oath to Mr Naqvi whose elevation to the position has taken the flak from the PTI and its supporters.
Mr Naqvi dabbled in media and as a field producer for CNN, worked diligently behind the scenes, focusing on building connections and managing logistics. Among other traits, he is said to be one who quickly responds to requests for comments and always maintains a polite and professional demeanour.
