Imran Khan granted pre-arrest bail in terrorism case

The court has barred police from arresting Imran Khan till September 1.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday granted pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in a terrorism case registered against him.
Imran Khan had appeared before ATC and pleaded for a pre-arrest bail. The PTI chairman reached the court with his heavy security.
In the petition, it was prayed to stop the Islamabad police from arresting Imran Khan. It was also requested that it is a false and baseless case.
The court has barred police from arresting the former premier till September 1. While Khan had to submit surety bonds of 1 lakh rupees.
It further added that Imran Khan has never been involved in any crime and there is no criminal record against him.
Speaking to media after the hearing, PTI chairman said that it was confirmed that Shahbaz Gill was tortured in the police custody and "I said to take an action against the IG, DIG and the magistrate who knew that Shahbaz was being tortured and still sent him back in the physical remand."
Imran Khan said that an attempt was made to arrest the head of the biggest party through terror laws. “Pakistan is being mocked globally and an impression of banana republic has been created,” he said.
He clarified that he spoke regarding legal action at the Islamabad rally. Khan added that all of them are afraid of the PTI’s force as they are on a winning streak during by-polls. “They are bent on trying for a technical knockout against me to save their skins,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI leader Asad Umar said that a terrorism case has been registered against Imran Khan on just one speech, people of Pakistan are with Khan, the incumbent government will lose. He said that PTI will succeed in the war of a real independence.
While former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said, "We will get rid of the current government till September 10.
"It is pertinent to mention here that a terrorism case was registered against Imran Khan in Margalla police station for allegedly using derogatory language and threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry in his speech in Islamabad on August 20.
On Wednesday, the former premier had decided to file a petition in an ATC to avoid arrest in the terrorism case.
