Miftah warns of scorching inflation in coming days
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail on Friday warned that inflation will further increase in the coming days.
In an interview for Dunya TV programme ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’, Miftah Ismail said that certain companies had made a lot of money in the last few years including the car and cigarette industries but the we have to broad the tax net in order to save the economy in this regard jewellers will be brought into tax net, adding that imposing tax on agriculture is also in consideration.
There is no doubt that inflation will further increase in the coming days, Miftah said.
”We are trying to save the country from default and the situation will improve in four to five months," he said.
While talking about today’s Stock exchange crash and super tax, he said the stock market crash was temporary and it will go up within the same month after $2.3 billion Chinese consortium loan credited into SBP account today which will help to stable overall economic situation.
“We had no other choice but to impose the super tax, things will get better after the IMF agreement,” the Finance Minister said.
