Rain in Lahore, other parts of Punjab turns weather pleasant

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in Lahore on Monday brought the mercury considerably down.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in Lahore on late Monday night turned the weather pleasant and brought the mercury considerably down, Dunya News reported.
Rain caused disruption of electricity in parts of Lahore as more than 250 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped, plunging various parts of the city into darkness.
The heavy rain was reported from parts of the city including Lakhmi Chowk, Mall Raod, Shimla Pahari, Data Darbar, Gulshan Ravi, Johar Town, Gulberg, Samanabad and several other localities.
Heavy rain in Lahore inundated low-lying areas. The rain water entered the houses located in the low-lying areas of the city. Roads were submerged under rain water causing problems for the flow of traffic.
Rain was also reported in different other cities of Punjab including Faisalabad, Kasur, Jhang, Chishtian, Chunian, Nankana Sahib, Pattoke, and adjoining areas. Met office said that the current spell of rain will continue till June 23.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-windstorm /thundershower is expected in parts Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Sindh and northeast Balochistan during next 24 hours.
