ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Leader of Opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their legitimate struggle for right to self-determination.

During the key session in Senate, a motion was moved by Leader of House Shahzad Waseem and Leader of Opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on the current situation in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Opening the debate in the House, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader strongly condemned Indian atrocities against oppressed Kashmiri people.

He pointed out that India is resorting to tactics aimed at changing the demographic structure of the occupied territory in violation of international laws and conventions.

He said the world community should come forward and resolve this outstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people. 

Meanwhile, participating in the debate, Leader of House Shahzad Waseem said the relationship between Pakistan and Kashmiris is that of brotherhood and affection. He said that India has turned Kashmir valley into an open prison but this has not shaken the resolve of Kashmiri people who continue to lift the flag of freedom movement.

Shahzad Waseem said Kashmir dispute stands internationalized today as Prime Minister Imran Khan has forcefully raised the outstanding dispute at all international forums including the United Nations.

He said world leaders and human rights organizations are also raising voice against Indian atrocities in the occupied territory. He said the world community should force India to rescind the illegal and unilateral steps of 5th August 2019.

He said Narendra Modi should be tried for war crimes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Azam Nazeer Tarar also suggested that parliamentary delegations be sent to different countries to apprise them about the blatant human rights violations taking place in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the government should sit with the opposition parties and frame a strategy to effectively raise the Kashmir dispute at international level.
