Smart lockdown imposed in four towns of Karachi Central

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Government has imposed a smart lockdown in four towns of District Central as coronavirus positivity rate in the port city has reached record high.
According to the notification, micro-smart lockdown has been imposed in several union councils (UCs) in Gulberg, North Nazimabad, North Karachi and Liaquatabad areas.
The notification lists dozens of neighborhoods from various UCs where the smart lockdown would be imposed.
During the lockdown, the movement of people would be restricted and all commercial activities will remain suspended in the hotspot areas.
The lockdown is being imposed on recommendation from the district health officer.
On the other hand, Pakistan Covid-19 positivity rate has reached 13pc as 7,586 more people contracted the virus in last 24 hours.
Pakistan has reported 20 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,367,605. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,097 on Sunday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 7,586 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 13,105 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,738 in Sindh 5,974 in KP, 976 in Islamabad, 750 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in GB.
Furthermore 523,774 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 462,323 in Punjab 184,455 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 117,436 in Islamabad, 35,218 in Azad Kashmir 33,910 in Balochistan and 10,489 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
