Movement for Saraiki province being sabotaged: Babar Awan

Dr Babar Awan said PML-N was trying to sabotage movement of Saraiki province under London plan.

Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by PPP leader Haji Azizur Rehman Chan, the former law minister said the movement of new provinces was according to the Constitution of 1973 and it was not newly defined under the 18th or any other Amendment. The creation of one unit was unconstitutional while the creation of new provinces was in accordance with the constitution, he added.Dr Babar Awan urged the ‘Sharif brothers’ to face the challenges instead of using tactics to hush up the voice for Saraiki province under London plan.He said that any move to foil the efforts for Saraiki province would create a negative impact on the national politics.Dr Babar Awan said that the Punjab Government was non-serious and mishandling the provincial issues, including the Saraiki province.He laid emphasis on all the stakeholders to play their role instead of politicizing the issue of new provinces in the country.Many leaders of the PPP including Raja Riaz, Mushtaq Awan, Zakriya Butt and Haji Azizur Rehman Chan were also present on the occasion.
