Massive fire erupts at chemical factory in Karachi
KARACHI (Dunya News) - At least 16 labourers on Friday have lost their lives as a huge fire erupted at a chemical factory in Karachi’s Korangi.
According to details, eight fire tenders are busy in extinguishing the blaze that broke out around 10:00am.
Fire fighters declared the fire as "third degree" because of the toxic chemical, adding that so far, 16 bodies have been recovered from the building and many people are still trapped in the factory.

Five of a family including three brothers are also among the dead. The bereaved family told that the door leading to roof was locked due to which, the laborers were unable to save their lives.
The teams are facing difficulties in the rescue operation due to narrow lanes and smoke.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Sindh (CM) Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the fire and sought report from labor department and commissioner. He also directed to facilitate the affectees.
Karachi administrator Murtaza Wahab has informed that inquiry into the matter has been started.
