Fields of Punjab are still facing four per cent water shortage after improvement in the water situat

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Water Resources Chaudhry Moonis Elahi has rejected the allegations of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for giving less water to Sindh.

The federal minister asked Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to stop water theft in Sindh instead of making baseless allegations against Punjab. “The allegation that Sindh gets 35 per cent less water than Punjab is completely untrue,” he mentioned.

Moonis Elahi also maintained that someone was misinforming the Sindh chief minister regarding water statistics. He also requested to Murad Ali Shah that he should not rely on the source who providing him wrong statistics. “IRSA is the equal protector of the water interests for all the provinces,” he added.

The minister for water further said that the fields of Punjab are still facing four per cent water shortage after improvement in the water situation, while the Sindh has zero per cent water shortage.

He mentioned that the water loss was recorded from 2004 to 2019 in the larger province of Punjab averaged only 4 per cent while in Sindh was 29 per cent.
