PIA to operate two more flights to bring back people stranded in Kabul

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has decided to send two more special flights to Kabul to bring back stranded people. CEO Arshad Malik himself took the first flight to encourage the staff.

According to a PIA spokesman, the flights will bring Pakistanis and other foreigners stranded in Kabul. PIA is using an Airbus 320 for the first flight while Boeing 777 will be used for the second flight which is much bigger aircraft as compare to the first one.

PIA CEO, Arshad Malik will hold important meetings with Afghan civil aviation and NATO forces officials at Kabul Airport and will also review administrative matters and operations at the airport, with Pakistani Ambassador Mansoor Khan after the new government is formed in Afghanistan.

A PIA spokesman said, that it is under consideration to operate flights from other cities of Afghanistan, as per the instructions of the federal minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

Earlier, the national flag carrier with the support of the Pakistan embassy Kabul and local authorities brought back another 350 passengers from Kabul to Islamabad on Friday.

According to the details, around 350 passengers including foreigners and local Afghans attached with the World Bank and other international organizations, Afghan Wireless communication, Vimco Imtiaz construction company, Sky aero logistics, embassy of the Philippines etc were evacuated from Kabul.
