LAHORE (Dunya News) – Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said that the court granted him bail on merit.

Speaking exclusively in Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath”, he said that the Lahore High Court (LHC) wrote in its verdict that the cases against him were unwarranted and no evidence of evidence of corruption, kickbacks, money laundering and TTs were presented.

The PML-N president said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has no evidence of corruption against him and the government was taking revenge in the name of accountability, adding that the anti-graft watchdog summoned him in a Saaf Pani case and arrested him in Ashiana.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he pays taxes regularly and the anti-graft agency admitted that there was no evidence of illicit income against him, adding that he completed projects worth Rs 3,300 billion during its tenure.

"Every year I submit details of my assets to the FBR," he said and added the government made cases against him and Nawaz Sharif in the past three years.

To a question, he said that he was in jail at the time when the anti-government opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was formed and he sent directions to senior party leaders from jail.

Sharif went on to say that there are 10 parties in PDM and all decisions are taken through consultation, adding that we have to expose the government in the budget. “I get scared when they talk about the state of Madina, adding that the rulers should carefully name the state of Madinah.”

He further said that a strategy would have to be formulated on budget, coronavirus, Kashmir and CPEC, adding the project is being delayed. The project is now in limbo, it has not been handled properly.
