Shaukat Tareen becomes finance minister after cabinet reshuffle

Shaukat Tareen made new finance minister after PM Imran reshuffled the federal cabinet.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday reshuffled his cabinet changing the portfolios of his government’s key ministers and appointing Shaukat Fayaz Tareen as a new Minister for Finance and Revenue.

The prime minister appointed Chaudhry Fawad Hussain as Minister for Information and Broadcasting, replacing Senator Shibli Faraz who interchanged his portfolio with Fawad as science and technology minister.

Hammad Azhar will now be holding the position of Minister for Energy. He has replaced Omar Ayub Khan who has now been appointed as economic affairs minister.

In place of Hammad Azhar, the prime minister appointed Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar as Federal Minister for Industries and Production.

Earlier,  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had reshuffled the provincial cabinet and added two more ministers and eight special assistants, and advisers to it.

Minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Shahram Khan Tarakai was given the charge of the Health Ministry. Minister for Health Hisham Inam Ullah Khan’s portfolio was changed to Social Welfare.

Minister for Communication and Works Akbar Ayub Khan was charge of the Education Ministry. Former Special Assistant to the CM for Information Technology (IT), Kamran Bangash was assigned the Local Government portfolio.

CM Khan had also appointed Arif Ahmed Zai, Riaz Khan, Shafi Ullah, Zahoor Shakir Wazir Zada, Azam Swati, Ghazan Jamal and Taj Muhammad as his special assistants.
